Our first stop was for a refreshing lunch of Dungeness crab and shrimp louie salad at Louie Linguini's in Cannery Row. I had a glass of Morgan pinot gris and Brian tried their sangria. He has become a sangria connoisseur of sorts, having made it a point to try it in any restaurant that makes a signature recipe.
We paid full price for our entrance fee to the aquarium ($25 each), but could have paid less with our military discount had we actually done planning beforehand (psh, yeah right) and dropped by the Navy base to buy our tickets. Since it was a Sunday on a 3-day weekend, the entire place was wall-to-wall full. We tried to peer in at every major exhibit, but the aforementioned tyke terrors made that almost impossible.

We left the aquarium mid-afternoon to explore. Cannery Row is a bustling, exciting area to visit, and we had fun going into all the weird little gift shops and tourist attractions.
And then we found the tasting room :)
We tried a premium flight of about 5 wines for $15/person. Given the good things I've heard about central coast wines, I decided that the $30 tasting fee really was fair since most Napa wineries charge about the same amount.
We ended up leaving with two new bottles: the 2005 Chalone Chardonnay and Pelerin Vintage Pinot Noir. Since we were given $5 discount cards by the sommelier, we paid a little less than we would have and also got a discount on the Pelerin due to a wine list mix-up. Definitely a lot more than I would normally spend on wine ($72 total), but still a worthy investment given that the holidays are coming up and we can give them as gifts or crack them open for Christmas.
